Štvanice Footbridge by Petr Tej, Marek Blank & Jan Mourek

Crafted by Bridge Structures, a newly designed pedestrian bridge spans Prague’s Vltava River, linking the city to Štvanice Island. The bridge seamlessly integrates with its natural environment, boasting a minimalist, curvilinear design that enhances the urban landscape. Supported by embankment abutments and strategically placed piers, the structure provides a direct solution for increased pedestrian connectivity. Utilizing high-quality fiber-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete resembling polished white marble, the bridge features 57 prefabricated components in a segmented approach. Ornamental bronze handles with animal motifs by sculptor Aleš Hvízdal and integrated lighting along the handrail add both artistic flair and functionality to the bridge, contributing to its harmonious composition.
