Sensu Cafe by Atelier Jiří Lukáš

“A new development is emerging on the site of the former Žižkov railway station, with people flowing through the arcaded corner en route to nearby parks and amenities. In this dynamic setting of New Žižkov, the Asian café Sensu, with its passion for matcha, offers a tranquil retreat. The concept centers on a modern Asian café rooted in quality and authenticity, supported by the investor’s exceptional dedication—including travels to Japan to build relationships with tea growers. The interior is defined by a restrained material palette: wood, linen, concrete, and glass. Natural tones highlight the vivid green of matcha and colorful sweets. Textures play a key role—shiny stainless steel contrasts with soft oak veneer, rough concrete is softened by linen curtains. Custom elements like chairs, tables, lights, and cups create a harmonious atmosphere. A long, linear bar organizes the space, giving staff functional support while guiding customer flow. Every design detail serves a purpose. A gridded ceiling above the bar handles acoustics and ventilation while casting deep shadows that anchor the space. Light and shadow are carefully used to create a cozy and coherent interior.”
