House in Kutná Hora by BYRÓ architects

The old house in the historic core of Kutná Hora has undergone numerous changes throughout its history. The original medieval structure was completely destroyed, replaced by a late 19th-century building that underwent extensive and insensitive reconstruction in the 1970s, altering its character significantly. The current intention is to rediscover the layers and memories within the house, intertwining them with new elements to form a cohesive whole. The new interventions aim to bring fresh impulses to the structure, involving unexpected connections between individual spaces through the creation of new openings that bridge the old and the new.
