The EXPO 58 pavilion, Czechoslovakia’s standout entry at the 1958 World Fair in Brussels, was a marvel of architecture, constructed with steel and glass. Drawing 6 million visitors, it became the fair’s most popular pavilion. After the exhibition, the pavilion was dismantled and relocated to Prague, where it still stands. The 1958 Expo focused on space technologies and nuclear power, highlighting the Cold War rivalry between the West and the communist East. The Czechoslovak pavilion showcased cutting-edge technology, earning it acclaim and the highest award, the Golden Star. The pavilion’s modern design, influenced by functionalism, featured prefabricated concrete slabs and large windows, embodying a spirit of innovation.
