Bianca villa apartment by Komon architects

The historical Bianca villa, designed by Jan Kotěra in 1910-11, underwent a radical transformation in 2003 by Dutch architect Erick van Egeraat, restoring its exterior to Kotěra’s original vision while updating the interior to the contemporary era. The proposal envisions a new interior for the historic villa, seeking a harmonious relationship between the interior and the house, aiming to revive a dialogue with history. A modern design approach, devoid of decorative details, combines with material choices and singular furniture referencing the villa’s origin period. Dark oiled oak, natural brass accents, and plaster finishes contribute to a timeless aesthetic. The layout adapts to current family needs, creating a shared southern-oriented space for the kitchen, dining, and living areas, with added flexibility for a home office. The bedroom, equipped with a separate dressing area and a private bathroom with a balcony, occupies the northern part. The central hall is illuminated by natural light from surrounding spaces.
